1. What is the box build process, and how far does SILBIT take it?

Box build is the stage after Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) where a finished board becomes a complete product: enclosure assembly, cabling and wire harnesses, firmware loading, functional testing and final packaging. At SILBIT the process runs through defined stations, with traceability records captured per unit and station photography configured per program. Enclosures in sheet metal and injection molded plastic are produced through qualified manufacturing alliance partners rather than in house tooling. Products ship ready for the end customer, including retail or fulfillment packaging when the program requires it.

2. What are your minimum order quantities and production run sizes?

SILBIT does not publish a single minimum, because the practical floor depends on component lead times, panel utilization and test fixture requirements rather than on a fixed unit count. Installed capacity exceeds 50,000 boards per month.* SILBIT works primarily with hardware companies between 10 and 150 employees, which means low and medium volume programs with recurring runs are the normal case rather than the exception. Your specific run size and pricing break points are defined during the engineering review of your files.

3. How long does IMMEX approval take, and how does it work for me as the customer?

As the customer you do not apply for IMMEX at all, because SILBIT already operates under an authorized program, IMMEX Registration, and your components enter Mexico under that authorization. IMMEX is a Mexican federal program that permits temporary importation of materials for manufacturing and re export. SILBIT also holds PROSEC certification. The customs and temporary import side is handled by us. Whether your specific product also qualifies as originating under the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) depends on the rules of origin applied to its bill of materials, so we confirm that per program rather than as a blanket statement. Approval timelines apply to the operator, not to you.

4. What does your Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review include, and does it cost anything?

The Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review is provided at no cost, before any production commitment. Engineers examine your schematic and layout for the issues that drive yield and cost: component footprint and courtyard conflicts, panelization and rail allowance against a maximum panel of 510 by 460 millimeters, solder paste and stencil implications, test point access, thermal relief on high mass copper, and Bill of Materials risk on single sourced or end of life parts. You receive a written findings list. Nothing is changed in your design without your approval.

5. What are your quality certifications and inspection standards?

SILBIT builds to IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria and inspects 100 percent of assemblies using three dimensional Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI). The company holds IMMEX Registration and PROSEC certification for its trade operations. ISO 9001:2015 certification is in progress and has not yet been granted, and SILBIT states this openly rather than implying otherwise. For medical electronics, SILBIT manufactures United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Class 1 devices directly, and Class 2 and Class 3 programs through a certified partner.

6. What circuit board testing methods do you use?

Every assembly passes three dimensional Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) before reflow and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) after, at 100 percent coverage rather than by sampling. Beyond that, functional testing runs on fixtures that SILBIT designs and builds in house for each program, ranging from single board electrical jigs to automated multi board systems with programming and reporting. Artificial intelligence trained vision systems verify assembly steps, detect indicator states and validate poka yoke sequences on the line. Test coverage is defined with you during the engineering review.

7. What is the largest panel size, and which assembly types do you support?

The maximum panel dimension is 510 by 460 millimeters. SILBIT supports Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and through hole assembly, single and double sided, including mixed technology boards. Selective conformal coating is applied robotically in ultraviolet cure and moisture cure chemistries up to 350 by 250 millimeters, and epoxy resin potting is available for assemblies that face harsh environments. Installed capacity exceeds 50,000 boards per month.* Sixty to seventy engineers and technicians staff the operation in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

8. How long does a transition from my current manufacturer take?

The timeline depends on your test fixture requirements more than on anything else, and fixture design and validation alone can run from two to six months for complex programs. Simple assemblies with existing fixtures move considerably faster. The sequence is the same in every case: mutual non disclosure agreement, file and Bill of Materials handover, Design for Manufacturability review, component sourcing and lead time confirmation, first article build, and then pilot production. SILBIT commits to a dated schedule only after reviewing your actual files.

9. How do you handle component sourcing, and who carries the inventory risk?

Which model applies is agreed before the first build rather than assumed. Under a turnkey arrangement SILBIT purchases the Bill of Materials and manages supplier qualification, lead times and obsolescence risk. Under a consigned arrangement you supply the components and SILBIT assembles them. Many programs land in between, with critical or long lead parts handled by whichever side holds the better allocation. On a first build, component lead time is usually the constraint rather than assembly capacity.

10. How do you protect my intellectual property and confidential information?

No design files are exchanged before a mutual non disclosure agreement is signed. Manufacturing data, Bill of Materials content and firmware images are treated as customer property, and are not shared with other customers or used in SILBIT marketing without written permission. Traceability records and station photography, configured per program, remain available to you and are not disclosed to third parties. SILBIT is a contract manufacturer and does not sell competing products under its own brand.

11. How does communication and shipping to the United States and Canada work?

SILBIT operates in the same time zones as most of North America, so a question sent in the morning is answered the same working day rather than the next. Ground transit from Guadalajara to the United States and Canada runs three to five days, on Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms, with export logistics handled end to end. Close to 78 percent of production is exported to the United States and Canada. Engineering conversations happen directly with the people building your product.
